About us
Formed in the summer of 1977 as a Youth in the Community Scheme attached to Rothwell's Montsaye School, F.C. Aztec was the brainchild Mr.Ray.Coe & Physical Education teacher Nick Haycock who continues today as Head of PE at the school. He is also an active participant with the coaching and acts as Honorary President of the club.
At it's inception there was little idea how much need there was for a club of this type, but it soon became very evident as literally hundreds of youngsters turned out for those early coaching sessions.
The secret of much of Aztecs success lies in the welcome extended to all. Boys, girls, gifted or simply enthusiastic are encouraged not to win at all costs but to develop an awareness of discipline, fair play, tolerance and good sportsmanship. In a friendly atmosphere, controlled by a team of dedicated members of the public giving up their own spare time for the benefit of the community.
The club is open to boys and girls of all ages providing a pathway for the children to play football preparing them for their progression into the adult systems.
The clubs' existence has a very positive influence on the youth of the district giving guidance and self-control as they grow into more mature members of the Community where they live.
F.C. Aztec has chosen the sport of Football as its chosen activity.
The picture was taken when they won their club's tournament August last year; they are currently third in the first division of their league with three games in hand over the league leaders and they are in the semi-finals of the County Cup.
